Jose Zalabardo Pragmatist Cognitivism

I’ll outline some of the main ideas of my recent monograph, Pragmatist  Semantics. My main contention will be that a discourse can successfully  discharge the task of representing the world even though the facts from  which its sentences obtain their meanings (their meaning grounds) do not  involve a relation to the region of reality they purport to represent.  Discourses whose meaning grounds consist in how their sentences are used  can also discharge representational duties. I consider some central  challenges for this position.
